INB Vision AG, a company of the Micro-Epsilon Group, provides the surfaceCONTROL measuring system specifically for recognition of defects on diffuse reflecting surfaces. This system uses structured light projection to help detect and analyze local shape defects, such as indentations or raised areas on surfaces, which may only deviate by micrometres from their target measurements.

In September 2007, Micro-Epsilon established collaboration with the BMW plant in Dingolfing, Germany, and the Institute for Software Systems in Technical Informatics Applications of the University of Passau (FORWISS Passau). This new joint research project was based on deflectometry software developed by Micro-Epsilon and Passau University and focused on developing a new optical measuring process for industrial quality control of reflecting surfaces. The Bavarian Research Foundation funded the entire two-year FORSO project.

On 16.01.2012 Micro-Epsilon Messtechnik GmbH &Co. KG, based in Ortenburg, Germany, named a new Board of Management. After 35 years, Dipl.-Ing. Karl Wisspeintner handed the management of the company over to his successor Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Sellen who will be responsible for production and development, while recent Deputy CEO Dipl.-Phys. MICRO-EPSILON Eltrotec introduces colorCONTROL ACS7000, the first online color measuring system. The measuring principle is based on spectral imaging. First, the target is illuminated with white light, then the spectrum of the reflected light is compared to a white reference. The results are used to calculate CIE-xy color coordinates for wavelengths of 390-780 nm.
