Orientation of wooden boards
In fully automated sawmills, the position of wooden boards must be determined before sawing so that the cuts can be made accurately. Laser displacement sensors from Micro-Epsilon detect the position of the boards from two sides and transmit the board position to the control system. Due to their high measuring rate, the optoNCDT laser sensors reliably monitor even very fast machining processes. A large selection of measuring ranges also enables the monitoring of boards with varying dimensions.
Other possible applications for optoNCDT laser displacement sensors in the automated wood industry include wood sorting, classification, and dimensional inspection.
