In the production of lithium-ion batteries, separator films play a central role in the safety and performance of the cells. These highly specialized films separate the electrodes from each other and prevent internal short circuits, while at the same time enabling ion exchange.

The compact thicknessGAUGE sensor system is used for measuring the coating thickness of separator films. Equipped with a white light interferometer, the sensor system detects several thickness values simultaneously. Thanks to the multi-peak function, both the film thickness and the coating, which is only 10 µm thick, are measured reliably.
