Reverse polarity protection

A serial diode located after the terminal for the supply voltage prevents the flow of current and therefore damage to the downstream electronic components when the supply voltage is incorrectly applied (reversed). The polarity reversal protection is also realized with a parallel diode connected in reverse to the operating voltage and a fast fuse.
