Draw-wire transducer wireSENSOR measure linear movements by means of a highly flexible steel cable. The cable of the draw-wire transducer is wounded on a drum which axis is coupled to a potentiometer or encoder. The cable head is mounted on the measuring object. If the distance of the measuring target regarding the draw-wire transducer changes, a rotary motion of the drum is generated which is converted into an electrical signal by an encoder or potentiometer and subsequently output.
Draw-wire transducers are suitable for wide measuring ranges. The rugged sensor construction ensures reliable operation even under keen ambient conditions.
