Micro-Epsilon has extended its thickness measurement portfolio by adding the thicknessCONTROL MTS 8201.LLT-50/4000 HME (Hot Metal Environment) O-frame system for aluminum hot rolling mills. The measuring principle is based on laser line triangulation and so is independent of the alloy. The measuring range of 100 mm with an absolute accuracy of 10 µm can be extended by a vertical axis to 300 mm and therefore adapted to the plate thickness with precision maintained.
In order to compensate for the hot environment in aluminum hot rolling mills, water-cooling systems are integrated to protect the sensor electronics. This improves the lifetime of the components and reduces the effects of ambient temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, the system has been enlarged by a fully-automatic, patented, inline linearization of the optical sensors in order to compensate for the remaining temperature effects and to guarantee continuous precision. thicknessCONTROL MTS 8201.LLT-50/4000 HME (Hot Metal Environment) comes with all the proven benefits of laser line triangulation measurement systems already on the market. These include: patented built-in temperature compensation in the system, compensation of angle tilting effects and high lateral resolution of the laser line. The latter enables a detailed inspection of the edges of the rolling stock, as well as measuring the basic and total thickness, even in a profiled tread plate or chequered plate.
thicknessCONTROL MTS 8201.LLT-50/4000 HME disposes of an intelligent software package for analysing the processes. Cross-sections, longitudinal profiles, data trending and SPC features can be visualized by the user and can be interchanged with other control systems. Features such as formula management, comprehensive data logging and integrated, fully-automatic analysis of test equipment are also provided.
