06/29/2011: Color recognition by optical fiber

Color sensors of the colorSENSOR LT range are used in a wide range of industrial applications. They directly recognize the color on the target by means of an optical fiber. The color, which has been previously taught, is checked for in a subsequent inline inspection, and this permits quality assurance or parts sorting in numerous applications. To measure the thickness of metal strips, a differential measurement is often made using a sensor on the upper and lower flanges. This methodology has been perfected in the thicknessCONTROL MTS 8202, which also recognizes tilts and undulations with the aid of laser scanners. Brake discs subject to heavy wear and tear start to glow and warp due to thermal stresses. This deformation must only be permitted within narrow limits and so it has to be the subject of inspection. This type of measurement is difficult with conventional laser sensors - but it is a perfectly normal task for the new blue laser.

05/31/2011: High-precision gap measurement

Up to now, the measurement of gaps at depths of as much as 20 cm was a task that was very difficult to perform. The new capaNCDT CSG sensors, with their special construction, solve this task reliably. When the sensor is lowered into the gap, it precisely records the width of the gap at its tip. This means that places that had previously been inaccessible can now be measured.

Windscreens are glued into the vehicle body during production. It is important to have a perfect adhesive bead before the windscreen is inserted so that the screen can provide the necessary long-term quality and stop water entering or to prevent the annoying noise of the wind at the adhesive joints. The scanCONTROL 2710 profile scanner performs this task during production. In addition, the shape and volume of the adhesive bead are checked.
