Press tools used in medical engineering are subject to an ISO standard and therefore to continuous quality control. Due to their complex geometry and a highly reflective surface, automatic inspection of stamps and dies has to date only been possible at great expense.
Ti-1 is a complex measurement system specially developed for this measurement task. Synchronized measurements and movements enable the automatic quality control of critical tool parameters with a repeatability of ± 1µm. In order to achieve these precise measurements, a confocalDT 2451 sensor is combined with an optical optoCONTROL 2600 micrometer supported by the precise movement of the target with 5 degrees of freedom, so that all measuring positions can be accessed. This is how the most important dimensions of stamps and dies such as diameter, total length and main axis are measured on a non-contact basis. One major advantage here is that the stamp can be easily fixed onto the measurement system by simply placing it upright on a mark. Comprehensive adjustments are no longer necessary. Furthermore, the measurement system provides a USB port and special software for geometrical and visual inspection of tools, enabling evaluation of results and the condition of the tools.
