The new scanCONTROL 29xx-10/BL, part of the laser profile scanner product family, enables high resolution measurements of extremely small objects. The scanner offers a blue laser line with a length of only 10mm and 1280 points per profile. This results in a point distance of just 7.8µm, which enables the scanCONTROL 29xx-10/BL to provide twice the resolution of previous laser scanners with a 25mm measuring range. The blue laser line generates an extremely sharp image on the matrix and so enables an even higher resolution.
The scanCONTROL 29xx-10/BL is used in applications where the highest precision and resolution are required, such as precision mechanics, electronics, medicine and in the production of precision parts and many other applications. For example, when checking razor blades for their quality, checking electronic components for positional tolerances, checking or verifying laser-welded seams for completeness, the new scanCONTROL model demonstrates its technical strengths.
As with existing laser profile scanners from Micro-Epsilon, the entire electronics is housed in a compact sensor body, where all the signal processing takes place, which eliminates the need for an external controller.
Four different scanner classes are available: SMART, GAP, COMPACT and HIGHSPEED. The scanCONTROL SMART and GAP series offer plug & play solutions for simple-to-complex measurement tasks, eliminating the need for any external controller or PC. Set up and configuration of the sensor is carried out by the software (scanCONTROL Configuration Tools or gapCONTROL Setup software), which enables the measurement of steps, angles, seams, grooves and gap sizes. The parameter set up is stored in the sensor, eliminating the need for PC connection. The scanner autonomously executes the measurement and outputs the measured values via different surfaces and protocol features (Ethernet UDP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, RS422, via Output Unit also analog or digital as switch signal).
Models of the COMPACT and HIGHSPEED classes transmit the complete, calibrated profile, which is evaluated in the client software. This enables any complex evaluations and integration of the scanner can be quickly achieved due to different libraries (C/C++-SDK, C#-SDK, LabVIEW driver, soon: Linux implementation). Furthermore, the GigE Vision standard used by scanCONTROL enables ease of use with common image processing software.
