Miniature displacement sensors optimize the combustion engine
Non-contact displacement sensors based on the eddy current principle have proven themselves over many years when it comes to movement, position or gap width measurement. As the eddy current principle is an environmentally friendly technique, it is possible to use these sensors in combustion engines during normal operation. Lube oil, fuels or combustion gases in the measuring gap or in the vicinity of the sensor, influence the measurement results only slightly. The miniature displacement sensors are being used in order to make reliable statements about the dynamic processes occurring in the combustion engine. They are installed on fixed as well as on moving engine parts (piston, connecting rod, crankshaft).
