Considering the known relationship between force (weight of washing) and displacement (depression of the suds container when the washing machine is loaded), the loading weight can be determined in a much more cost-effective way by using displacement measurement instead of applying a “real” weight measurement. Therefore, the new magneto-inductive mainSENSOR MDS40 offers a frontal measuring range of up to 55 mm while retaining high signal quality. Due to simple signal conditioning, only one counter input is necessary on the application side, which reduces total costs even further. As well as high resolution detection of the sinking depth, high dynamic measurement of the displacement amplitude during the spinning cycle is also possible. The sensor can be mounted on a damper or freely in the machine. The connection with the damper, however, saves the machine manufacturer additional assembly steps.
The magneto-inductive measuring principle is ideally suited to industrial applications, where cost-effectiveness and a large measuring range for high volumes is important. Therefore, the user can choose from different sensors: the range comprises simple board sensors as well as a completely encapsulated high pressure version.
