gapCONTROL - the gap measurement professional
05/03/2011
The parameterization of laser profile scanners is one of the most demanding tasks in measurement technology and calls for prior knowledge and experience in dealing with this type of sensor. This is why the new gapCONTROL gap sensor was developed. It is only concerned with measuring the gap and is thus very easy to use because complexity has been reduced as far as possible.
The result is a sensor that is prepared for the measuring task with a few movements of the hand and clicks, and which then outputs the desired values. When the scanner is aimed at the target, the gap present is selected by software. A few clicks in the graphical software interface are enough to determine how the edges of the gap are to be dealt with and which points should be calculated - and how.
Designated gapCONTROL 2711, there are three different models that measure different gap types of up to 300 mm depth and 50 mm in width. The sensor supports the user during welding operations, measuring flushness, overlapping, proximity, and height offsets, etc. The data is then employed in robot control or quality assurance applications. The entire electronic circuitry is integrated within the sensor, allowing it to be mounted quickly and easily. The software can also be tested in its entirety without a scanner. The sensor's standard outputs are Ethernet or RS422. Other output types are available via the output unit, by means of which the connectivity can be extended in a modular way.
