colorSENSORs for color recognition
05/03/2011
The new colorSENSOR product group offers exactly the right sensor for a large number of applications. Color sensors that operate via optical fibers are designated as colorSENSOR LT. In these models, the sensor is connected to an optical fiber that is guided to the measurement target. This way, color detection takes place very close to the object, so reducing any environmental influences. The many different fiber-optic cables and lenses available offer numerous optimal combinations of sensor and optical fiber, so allowing flexible adjustment to the task at hand.
The second group works by means of fixed optical systems. The colorSENSOR OT sensors recognize the color of the object from a great distance. Different models are suitable for different surfaces and materials. Depending on the lens and illumination involved, the correct sensor will provide optimal results.
The property of color recognition is the same for all sensors. To begin with, each sensor learns in a "teach-in" procedure using samples of the correct color. Following this step, the sensor compares the color it has learned with the object itself and then operates independently.
Typical applications include the sorting of different colored parts, the detection of color variations in the painting industry, as well as the recognition of different surfaces and the correct color during automatic production processes.
