Lean magneto-inductive sensors
03/29/2011
The magneto-inductive sensors range has been extended by the addition of a new, slim model. Just like the larger models, mainSENSORs are used everywhere that distances have to be measured very quickly in challenging environments. What is decisive in such situations is the large measurement range compared to the sensor size. The new mainSENSOR is integrated in a slim M18 stainless steel housing. By streamlining the sensor, a pressure up to 400 bar can be applied frontally. The additional groove enables the measuring system to be sealed with an O-ring. The high-quality stainless steel housing of this sensor is also highly resistant to a large number of oils and other substances. Typical applications include attenuator paths and hydraulic valves.
The special feature of these sensors is the combination of sensor and magnet. The range varies between 20 mm and 55 mm, depending on the size of the magnet.
Magneto-inductive sensors are based on extending eddy current technology by adding a magnetically sensitive element. The distance between the sensor and the target can be measured using a small target magnet attached to the object being measured. Two opposing physical principles ensure that the output signal achieves a high linearity. In contrast to conventional magnetic sensors, measurement is frontal, providing an output signal of 4-20 mA and 2-10 V. Due to its high cut-off frequency of 1000 Hz, this sensor can be used in highly dynamic processes.
The MDS-45-M18-SA will be available for delivery from August 2011.
