Displacement sensor with blue laser
03/29/2011
Micro-Epsilon is presenting the first commercially available displacement sensor with Blue Laser Technology at the Hanover Fair.
Blue Laser sensors are far superior to standard red laser diode sensors in many applications. The wavelength of the blue laser offers major advantages when making measurements on metal (especially on incandescent metal) and on organic materials such as wood, skin, foodstuffs, veneers, etc. With these materials, the blue-violet laser light does not penetrate the target, as is the case with red laser, thanks to its shorter wavelength involved. The blue laser produces a minimum laser spot on the surface, so ensuring stable and accurate results on otherwise critical targets. The sensors are of a completely new construction with optimized high-performance lenses, as well as novel intelligent laser controls and evaluation technology. Blue Laser technology is available in 6 different measuring ranges with the optoNCDT 1700 industry standard laser.
