Non-contact temperature measurement along a line
03/29/2011
The tried and tested thermoIMAGER TIM infrared camera can now record temperatures along a line as a "line scanner". This is an excellent way of monitoring temperatures in belt processes and moving parts. It allows 3D images of traversing objects to be created, similar to the laser line triangulation method of profile measurement. The temperatures are recorded and processed at up to 1.2 kHz. The zero-wear operation of the camera, due to the absence of any mechanical parts, is attention-grabbing. The camera is also much smaller than commercially available infrared line scanners in this class, and it offers an excellent price-performance ratio.
The thermoIMAGER is equipped with a new FPA detector that is more dynamic and more sensitive, and which has an image frequency of 120 Hz. Besides this, the new lenses permit a far higher spatial resolution. In order to evaluate the visual information, each package contains not only its own evaluation software but also offers support for LabView.
This extremely small infrared camera has been designed for stationary applications in industrial environments. The camera helps in quality assurance and process control duties on production lines where space is tight.
