High-end laser triangulation
02/15/2011
The new optoNCDT 2300 laser sensors offer measuring rates of close to 50 kHz, and so represent the new upper performance limit in laser triangulation. The sensor's benefits are particularly noticeable with fast moving parts, vibrations or challenging surfaces. The entire electronics is integrated via Ethernet, RS422 or EtherCAT interfaces in a compact 80 x 75 mm housing. A newly developed system called "Advanced Real-Time Surface Compensation" provides regulation when faced with varying reflection characteristics on the target surface.
The entire sensor configuration is performed via an intuitively designed web interface via an Ethernet connection. The sensor is also suitable for high-precision distance measurement, even for the thickness measurement of transparent objects – the user simply changes over to the thickness measuring mode. The electronics then evaluates the reflection from the upper and lower surfaces in order to calculate a thickness value. The optoNCDT 2300 is currently available in five different measuring ranges - other models will follow later.
