Micro-Epsilon launched ten innovations over the course of the year. A review of the sensors and instruments we have presented highlights key developments and characteristics once again.

The price of the TIM system was reduced significantly by redesigning it with new components. As before, the thermoIMAGER is currently one of the world's smallest thermal imaging cameras.

The optoNCDT 1710-1000 offers a base distance of 1m and a measurement range of a further 1,000mm. The sensor is particularly suitable for moving objects, high target temperatures or for measuring targets in a vacuum.

A new combination sensor system for rapidly measuring the thickness of plastic layers or films. The KSS6380 measurement system measures the thickness of the target from one side without any contact, therefore making it ideal for process control and production applications.

The mainSENSOR product family operates on the magneto-inductive principle. The measurement principle (patent-pending) is highly sensitive and suitable for dynamic measurements. The sensor measures up to 60mm by using a small magnet on the target.

The structures called "chatter marks" that appear on rolled surfaces degrade a product's optical quality. The new RC sensor deflectometric system detects these chatter marks and supports the effective localization of the faults.

Inductive sensors are often used due to their competitive price and because of the many standard sensor versions that are available. It is also possible to use an inductive sensor in many applications, but it would need specific modifications. Customer-specific sensors from Micro-Epsilon provide this option, and can be adapted to suit individual applications.

The new ECT technology means that many of the previous limits on the use of eddy current sensors or capacitive sensors no longer exist. Sensors made using this new production technology are suitable for extreme thermal or mechanical conditions.

The compact thermoMETER CSlaser does not require an external controller, but it does have an integrated laser aiming system. The two-wire analog output is ideal for controllers and enables rapid sensor integration.

Measurement technology used in the food industry must meet stringent standards. For example, sensitive sensor technology must remain fully functional after high pressure jet cleaning with aggressive detergents. The optoNCDT 1402 SC has been designed specifically for these types of environment.

Drilled holes and cavities as small as 4.5mm can now be inspected using the boreCONTROL. The system's sensor probe is inserted into the drilled hole. As well as checking the bore diameter, defects, circularity, ovality, conicity, concentricity, straightness and many other characteristics can also be verified.
