Geometric cutting edge testing

High precision metal processing is only possible using high quality cutting tools. That is why cutting discs need to be quality-tested during the production process. In order to measure cutting edges, precision engineering company Benzing Feinwerktechnik GmbH developed a simple but efficient automatic measuring device that performs this task. By using a pneumatic system, an optoCONTROL optical micrometer is traversed over the cutting disc. The cutting edge is measured using the shadow-casting principle. The important measurement data is viewed in the evaluation software provided, so that a rapid ‘OK/NOK’ decision can be made.
