Confocal sensors with new Product Manager
07/06/2010
In addition to conventional confocal sensors, Micro-Epsilon has developed the smallest confocal displacement measurement sensors in the world. With an external diameter of just 4mm, the traditional bulky sensor head is dispensed with. Applications with limited installation space are therefore possible.
Due to their narrow design, the optoNCDT 2402 miniature sensors also enable measurement in very cramped installation spaces. The sensors can be used from a width of 4.5mm for depth measurement in , for example, bore holes or recesses. Twin sensor versions with axial and radial beam paths enable classic displacement and distance measurement and also the inspection of internal walls. The sensors are constructed with a titanium housing and despite their small size are suitable for use in demanding industrial environments.
As the sensors function as passive components and there are no electronics in the sensor, they are most suitable for use in Ex-zones, vacuum conditions or environments with strong electromagnetic radiation.
As new Product Manager of the confocal sensors group, Dr. Alexander Streicher will strategically lead this product group and actively support the further development of these sensors. Dr. Streicher is therefore Product Manager for both laser distance sensors and for confocal sensors.
