Customer-specific inductive measurement
07/06/2010
Inductive sensors are one of the traditional electromagnetic measurement techniques. These sensors consist of one or more coils and guarantee long operating life by using a non-contact, wear-free measuring method. Many different versions are available on the market, but specific applications require specific sensors. This is often necessary due to special installation conditions where the measuring range or the design of the sensor must be modified. The sensor electronics can either be separate or integrated. Often requests are made for extremely robust versions which are used in environments up to 125°C and which provide resistance to vibration or impact shocks. Many sensors are also ATEX-certified for use in potentially explosive environments.
Inductive sensors measure the distance by using a simple plunger or measuring sleeve, which must always be attached to or integrated with the target. The many potential applications provided by the induSENSOR product range are a particular benefit to users.
