Confocal with increased base distance
04/21/2009
The new confocal optoNCDT 2403 sensors operate with two different lens technologies. There is a glass lens as relay lens in front of the gradient index lens using which significantly more reflected light can be absorbed. Both these technologies are combined in a case with a diameter of only 8 mm. The benefits of this series are the increased base distance in comparison with the miniature sensors and the extended tilt angles which are particularly important for inclined and directly reflecting objects. The robust steel case protects the lens against mechanical stress. These sensors also operate with nanometre resolution and provide measuring ranges between 0.4 mm and 10 mm. The completely passively operating optoNCDT 2403 can even be used in a vacuum or in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Typical application areas are situations with limited installation space, however where a certain base distance is required or the object does not show optimum reflection characteristics.
