Thickness of the sinter application

A sheet metal strip is sintered and lacquered afterwards for the production of bearing bushes. The sheet metal strip is scattered with a sinter powder in the production process and afterwards removed to the required thickness using a spreading knife. Due to this removal with the spreading knife, deviations from the required thickness can be produced which result in functional limitations of the bearing bush later. Measuring the thickness of the powder alone is virtually impossible. Therefore, the powder thickness is measured together with the sheet thickness. The micrometer is very well suited for this task. The optoNCDT LL sensors are integrated in the measuring device. Thanks to their short laser line, the sensors positioned above and below the sheet metal strip, are able to measure the distance to the sheet metal strip extremely accurately. At 50mm, the micrometer is extremely narrow and achieves a measurement depth of 1,000mm.
