Guard electrode

The guard electrode, also known as guard ring, encloses the active Sensor measuring area of a capacitive displacement Sensor. The guard electrode ensures a homogeneous electrical field up to the edge of the active Sensor measuring area - a prerequisite for the capacitive displacement measurement principle.
