Configuration Tools: Parameterization software for scanCONTROL
scanCONTROL Configuration Tools is a software to configure scanCONTROL sensors on a Windows PC. It is used to configure all scanCONTROL sensors. It helps you to set up the sensor, view profiles, save/load and export profiles.
In combination with a scanCONTROL SMART sensor Configuration Tools unfolds its true power. It parameterizes complex measuring tasks directly on the sensor controller including all outputs. When used with COMPACT or HIGHSPEED sensors the software simulates the algorithms even with loaded profiles.
All scanCONTROL sensors offer a lot of different options and settings. All these settings can be accessed with the Configuration Tools software. One possibility is accessing directly the image of the sensor matrix to set up the sensor optimum to the target. This view displays a live image of the matrix and helps to eliminate reflections on the target surface.
One profile consists of up to 1280 calibrated measuring points depending on the sensor type. These profiles are transmitted via FireWire or Ethernet to the PC. scanCONTROL Configuration Tools provides the possibility to display or save these profiles in real-time. Especially for very fast processes it is an absolutely necessary feature, because it is also possible to load the profiles again and analyze the profiles step by step afterwards. For further analysis it is also possible to export the profiles into a format compatible with MS Excel.
The SMART series sensors are equipped with intelligent controllers for basic profile evaluations without additional hardware (IPC or similar). The Configuration Tools software has been designed for the easy parameterization of the profile analysing algorithms on the SMART sensor. The idea is to solve a complex measuring task by combining small programs like edge, angle, extrema, groove or seam to one individual solution without know-how in programming.
Configuration tools offers 25 different programs to choose from. Within your individual selection each program can be configured fast and simple by direct mouse interaction in the signal. The result is as well displayed in the profile as shown numerically on the screen. To measure an angle for example you simply choose two reference lines where the angle is calculated in between. Each measuring program also provides the possibility to cut out interesting sections in the profile. For non static measurement tasks also an individual dynamic tracking for each program is available and can easily be configured using an anchor point.
After the parametrization of the individual measurement programs the resulting measurement values can be combined. In this easy way several angle values can be allocated, distances of points or straight lines can be computed or points can be projected on straight lines. Without tedious external computations measurement tasks can be solved that cannot be covered by one single measurement program of scanCONTROL Configuration Tools. Combined measurement values can be output directly from the sensor in real-time. So the flexibility of measuring is almost unlimited.
After the configuration of all individual programmes the software provides an overview of all results. You can protocol the results to a file or directly configure the digital and analog outputs. The last step is to save the complete parameter set to the SMART sensor. The profiles are then analyzed directly on the sensor and the PC is no longer needed.
